ABOUT ME

My name is Yuk Hoe. I am deeply inspired by traditional Korean culture and usually wear Hanbok. My art is deeply inspired by Korean traditional culture, nature, animals, and kitsch sensibilities. My keen interest in art began when I was 16 years old, and I thought about what it would be like to reach the age of 100. I thought about how to be happy for the next 84 years, and realised I have a special ability to see the world from a different perspective, allowing me to visualize and create unique pieces of art.

내 이름은 육회입니다. 나는 평소에 한복을 입고 다니며 전통문화에 깊은 영감을 받습니다. 나의 예술은 한국의 전통문화와 동물과 자연, B급 감성에 깊은 뿌리를 두고 있습니다. 나의 예술의 첫시작은 16살때 사람은 100살까지 살아간다는데 84년동안 무엇을 하면서 행복해질 수 있을까란 생각이 들었습니다. 그리고 제가 행복해질 수 있는 것에 대해 생각해보았고, 전 남들과 다른 시선에서 세상을 볼 수 있으며 그것을 시각화 할 수 있는 특별한 능력이 있다는 걸 되었습니다. 전 그걸 알기까지 수많은 교과서가 연필에 의해 검게 변할 때까지 숱한 낙서를 그렸지만요.
